Students engage in intensive chamber music rehearsals and work towards live performances of the highest standard, learning from their peers as well as expert practitioners. In the early part of semester students attend a lecture on the development of chamber music and skills in listening, collaborative rehearsal and musical presentation. Students are assigned a Principal Tutor who will recommend appropriate works and coach the ensemble. Both pre-formed groups and individuals may sign up.
1 x 2hr craft of chamber music workshop, 1 x chamber performance workshop as listed in the unit of study outline.
Chamber performance workshop (10%), tutorials (40%), 1 x performance exam as scheduled by division coordinator (50%)
This unit is for BMus (Performance) students only in the subject areas of orchestral instruments, , non-orchestral instruments, historical perfromance and jazz. It is optional for classical voice students.
