This unit of study aims to provide an advanced understanding of the fundamentals of traffic engineering, traffic flow theory, traffic modelling, and operations. Topics include: fundamentals of traffic flow theory; Shock Wave analysis, micro-modelling; macro-modelling; queuing theory; signalised and unsignalised intersections; ramp metering; traffic simulation; accident analysis, traffic data collection and analysis; and crowd dynamics.

Assumed knowledge
(CIVL2700 OR CIVL9700) AND (MATH1001 OR MATH1021) AND (MATH1003 OR MATH1023) AND MATH1005 AND ENGG1801. Basic statistics through regression analysis, differential and integral calculus, computer programming.
