Canvas Skills 1 - Economics

This 3-hour introductory workshop focuses on the basics of building a Canvas site.

Topics include:

10-10:30 eReserve (presentation from Rina)
10:45-11:00 Admin/SEAMS/A2A (staff log into SEAMS, make sure everyone is in the correct unit of study Canvas site, has students, site is active for students, add tutors, etc)
11-11:45 Demo/workshops  covering
  1. Navigation in Canvas
  2. Settings à Add eReserve to own site, Lecture recording show/hide as needed
  3. Adaptive release of content in Modules depending on student completing pre-reading (has viewed) and completed quiz
  4. Module release on completion of earlier module (e.g: Week 2 is released once Week 1 module is completed).
  5. Embedding videos – Arc and YouTube
  6. Setting up Turnitin assignments (anonymous marking suggestions)
  7. Quizzes as ‘Assignments’
  8. Sections  (based on tutorial groups /cohorts)  - the difference between a section and a group in Canvas
  9. Discussion boards based on groups (so each group can have a separate discussion board in the main site) + group area
 
11:45 -1pm flexible Q&A covering anything to do with Canvas (setting up above in own site), followed by 1on1 guidence for staff.
