DIY Recording Booth Familiarisation Online Module

Tuesday 6 October 2020

The DIY Recording Booth is a well-equipped, sound-proof space, purpose built for users who would like to record and edit their own educational media. It is a free resource available to all University of Sydney staff, however academic and professional staff preparing teaching videos are given priority.

The DIY booth operates under a 'do-it-yourself' model which empowers staff to make their own media resources. Participants can use the facilities of the DIY booth to do 'talking head' lectures, screen casts, pen casts, podcasts and two-person interviews.

To gain access to the DIY booth, you must complete a Canvas familiarisation module (this replaces the face to face familiarisation session we ran before COVID 19).

The online module covers basic orientation to the DIY booth, including:

  • Rules and procedures for reserving the booth
  • Procedures to follow at the beginning and end of your session
  • How to conduct a recording
  • How to edit recordings
  • Further help and resources to develop educational media

Sign up here to complete the DIY booth familiarisation module and get access to the DIY booth in August. Please note: due to the impact of COVID-19, there is an increased demand to create online videos in the DIY booth. As we need to regulate the number of users of the DIY boothonly 15 new participants will be able to complete the familiarisation module this month.

End date for sign-up: Tuesday 6 October 2020
