The telephone program aims to engage our alumni and friends with the University community and connect them with opportunities they are passionate about.

Frequently asked questions

The telephone program aims to connect our current students with graduates and our University community to keep them informed about what’s happening on campus.

Our student callers reach out to graduates and donors to seek their feedback, update them on important programs, check their details are current or invite them to make a charitable donation.

All calls from our telephone program come from the same outgoing number. You will be able to verify that you are speaking with a student caller by checking that the number they are calling from is 02 8627 0400.

You can also verify the call by checking your graduate ID, or Advance ID, which is different from your student number. Your Advance ID can be found on anything we send you, including letters, your Sydney Alumni Magazine and emails.

Yes. Our student callers take great care when dealing with personal information (including your contact details) and operate under strict guidelines to ensure that no information is inadvertently shared.

Private mobile phones are banned from the calling floor and any credit card details are immediately destroyed after processing donations.

We received your contact details at the time of your graduation. We may have also tried to contact you at an old number and received forwarding information from a family member or friend.

We are calling from the University of Sydney in the IXL building. It is located on 2-10 Golden Grove Street, Darlington.

The telephone program’s operating hours are Monday to Friday, 5pm - 8pm and Saturday, 10am - 5pm AEST. Please note that we do not call on Sundays.

It is important to us to maintain connection with our graduates and community, and we know emails can often get lost in an inbox.

By making personal calls, graduates and friends have the chance to hear about University and faculty news, ask questions, give feedback and swap stories with a current student.

When speaking with a student caller they might invite you to make a charitable donation to support one of many programs happening at the University. From student scholarships, teaching refugees English, to supporting cancer research, there are so many ways you can make a difference.

Our student callers can answer questions about specific causes to support as well as help you find one that you are passionate about.

When you give through the University, we don't make deductions for administration.

Yes, our callers are paid a competitive hourly rate. Despite the fact that our callers are paid, if you make a donation 100% of it goes directly to the cause of your choice.

Current students may be called if they have already completed a degree at the University or if they have supported the University in the past. Students enrolled in an honours degree may also be contacted.
