Membership and facilities

A collaborative space and community to create connections on campus
Our state-of-the-art coworking space and community provide an environment to foster innovation by providing an opportunity for researchers and industry partners to interact.

The membership-based startup incubator and industry engagement space serves as a ‘home on campus’ for early-stage ventures led by researchers at the University and for business to work in close proximity to the researchers, faculties, and students of the University. 

We help our members access:

  • Facilities including our coworking space, Hardware Lab, and the University of Sydney’s Core Research Facilities
  • The Research Capabilities at the of the University of Sydney
  • Commercialisation and Startup support such as new venture programs, investors, service providers

Membership Types

For organisations that want to base their team out of the coworking space.  Options are available for dedicated desks, hot desks, and a small number of team rooms.  This is a paid membership.

For University researchers that are pursuing the commercialisation.  Benefits for researcher members include access to small group workshops and experiences, inclusion in our community, and limited access to the coworking space and meeting rooms.

Post: Fees apply to the use of the Hardware Lab and for using the Sydney Knowledge Hub as a company’s postal address.

Facilities

Our collaborative hub is located within the Merewether Building (H04) and offers the following features:

  • Coworking: Flexible workspace options with access to dedicated hot desks, collaborative spaces, private offices, coffee and tea, high-speed wireless internet, showers, bike parking, lockers, printing, meeting rooms, kitchen and 24hr access.
  • Private offices (on application).
  • Hardware Lab: a workshop facility with shared prototyping equipment available for a fee to members.
  • Event spaces: Function room for up to 90 people (seated) available for hire. Enquire here.
  • Research and development infrastructure: Close proximity to labs, core research facilities (with discounted access for members) and prototyping facilities on campus.

Research Capabilities

The Sydney Knowledge Hub helps members connect to the right researchers, students, and infrastructure at the University of Sydney for your research and development.   

Collaboration opportunities include connecting with a PhD candidate, providing work integrated learning placements, introductions for research collaborations, and more.

Commercialisation and Start-up Support

We provide a range of programs for researchers for capacity building, networking, and furthering their intellectual property.

We also have a robust calendar of events from venture capital, startup programs, and service providers help members network further into the startup ecosystem. See what’s on.
