School of Biomedical Engineering

Inspired research and teaching to revolutionise healthcare
We improve lives through innovative biotechnology solutions that redefine the impossible within the healthcare industry. Our core strengths include tissue and neural engineering, nanomaterials and addressing chronic disease.

The School of Biomedical Engineering was established in 2019 to facilitate collaborative research excellence in the field of biomedical engineering. Through our academic staff and students, our research will aim to serve the public as a thought-leader and provide innovative technology for industry, hospitals, governments and the wider community.

Drawing on extensive experience in this field, the School of Biomedical Engineering will train the next generation of biomedical engineers by offering opportunities to carry out leading-edge research within world-class purpose built research facilities.

We will further strengthen our capacity to change the landscape of healthcare through multidisciplinary partnerships and engaging with our network across the University, including the Sydney Nano Institute, the Charles Perkins Centre, the Brain and Mind Centre, Westmead and other leading teaching and research hospitals.
