Providing education and research excellence in the areas of structural engineering, geomechanics, wind and environmental engineering, project management, complex systems, transportation and humanitarian engineering.
Our school is at the forefront of civil engineering education. Our systems approach to teaching allows students to graduate with the much sought-after design, research and problem-solving skills needed to create and manage sustainable built and natural environments.
Our project management program equips students with knowledge of the key interdependencies operating in project management and leadership frameworks, and how best to engage with these dynamics to develop proactive and effective planning, management and leadership strategies.
Our research strengths lie in structural engineering, geomechanics, fluids, transport and complex systems. Our expertise and facilities continue to meet the issues associated with sustainability, climate change, water management and the natural environment.
A long tradition of engagement with industry has led to successful collaborations with Arup, BlueScope and RMS, while our excellence in analytical and experimental research has played a prominent role in the development of Australian Standards® relating to structural design.
We offer consultancy and analytical services for industry, government, and non-profit external partners in the areas of geomechanics and mining materials, structural engineering, wind engineering, water resources and sustainable building design.
