“I could not be more excited to be awarded the 2017 Architects Medallion. I was thrilled to even be nominated, so to receive the medallion is beyond what I ever expected. I hope it will help me to pursue future job opportunities and perhaps further studies in Australia or overseas” said Georgia.

Georgia’s graduation project, Museum of Space and Time takes us to from the outer limits of human aspiration (understanding the cosmos) to the minutia of everyday human existence – in equal measure. “It consists of 19 separate buildings distributed across South Head. Each building was designed to provide visitors with the opportunity to experience and better understand different time scales: from atomic to human to celestial,” explains Georgia.

Georgia has been a consistently high academic achiever, who made the Dean’s List of Excellence two years running in 2011 and 2012, and was awarded the 1st Degree Graduate of the Year and Most Outstanding Student in Design and Professional Studies in 2014 by the Australian Institute of Architects. She also secured an International Exchange Outbound Scholarship in 2015, and an Innovation in Architectural Design Award in 2016.

In presenting the award, the jury members said “While her Masters project was of a highly conceptual nature, she applies her passion and big-picture thinking to real world issues around public space and domestic housing. An articulate and engaging storyteller, Georgia is an architectural dreamer and practitioner who we believe will be highly influential to the next generation of architects and architecture.”
