Centre for Advanced Structural Engineering

Unique focus on structural engineering research and development

We are promoting the advancement of structural engineering within Australia through research and development, cooperation with industry and education in contemporary structural technology.

About the centre

The Centre for Advanced Structural Engineering (CASE) within the School of Civil Engineering was established in 1988 to foster strong links between the University of Sydney and industry, strengthening industry support of research and increasing the University’s services to industry.

Using our Centre for Advanced Structural Engineering Laboratory, our research expertise covers:

  • structural stability and thin-walled structures
  • composite structures
  • reinforced and concrete structures
  • prefabricated systems
  • modular construction
  • high-performance buildings
  • adaptive structural systems
  • experimental techniques
  • materials science
  • computational analysis.
