Thesis title: Granular Flow Interactings from Lateral Intrusion

Thesis abstract:

This research presents an analysis into how granular matter interacts with laterally intruding objects. Advanced experimental set-ups involving 3-D printing, cameras and a Rheometer will be used to accurately measure and control the complex nature of granular flow. Experimentations will be conducted and evaluated qualitivively in accordance to existing experimental and numerical simulations from the literature. Ultimately, this research will try to provide a comprehensive understanding into granular flow interations. Allowing numerious advancements into intruding phenomena such as; agricultural ploughing, degradation of dirt roads, excavation, soil anchoring, etc.
