Thesis title: Sequence Based recommender for personalised curriculum planning

Thesis abstract:

�p�Students entering university face a myriad of choices when navigating their pathway through their degree. These choices effect the degree completion time and grade averages and periodically require re-selection to reflect the students current circumstances. An automated course recommender system could assist students, academic advisers and academic management to make the right choices. However, classical recommender systems need to be adapted to this unique domain to consider course sequence, concurrency, curriculum constraints and concept drift issues. This project will develop algorithms, methods and heuristics to circumvent these issues and will evaluate via an experimental study using a prototype. Visualisation of curriculum and study plan will also be explored as part of the prototype.�/p�
