Thesis title: Nonlinear pulses in Bragg grating structures

Thesis abstract:

This research will be aimed towards the study and analysis of solitary waves (solitons) in optical fiber mediums that have some form of Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) written on them. Results of their in-phase and out-of-phase interactions will be investigated through analytical and numerical methods and conclusions will be drawn about the overall stability of the solitons and their post-interaction behavior such as merging, repulsion, destruction or separation. Furthermore, the impact of uniformity of the gratings, material of the medium and hence the speed of the moving solitons, number of cores and/or dimensions of the core(s) can be taken into account to understand a wider scope of applications for the already popular FBGs.
