Thesis title: Epileptic seizure detection and forecasting ecosystems

Thesis abstract:

�p�Seizure prediction has attracted a growing attention as one of the most challenging predictive data analysis efforts in order to improve the life of patients living with drug-resistant epilepsy and tonic seizures. Many outstanding works have been reporting great results in detecting and predicting seizures. However, in order to achieve high sensitivity and low false prediction rate, many of these works rely on handcraft feature extraction and/or tailored feature extraction which is performed for each patient independently. This approach, however, is not generalizable and requires significant modifications for each new patient within a new dataset. In this research, we aim to apply Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to different intracranial and scalp electroencephalogram (EEG) datasets and propose a generalized retrospective and patient-specific seizure detection and prediction methods. We then propose a memory-efficient unified hardware-friendly CNN implementation that is suitable for implantable and portable devices.�/p�
