Thesis title: Pore-scale Simulations of Multiphase Flow in Porous Media: with Applications to Carbon Sequestration

Thesis abstract:

The study will commence with thorough literature review of pore-scale process and models for multiphase flow transport and retention in porous media and theories of CO2 sequestration. In addition, fully understanding of solid-liquid interaction at low Reynolds number should be established in order to simulate different flow circumstances. Appropriate pore-scale model(s), for example, Lattice Boltzmann or Pore Network, should be applied for CO2 sequestration scenarios. Numerical analysis will be carried out in order to evaluate the mechanisms and effectiveness of CO2 sequestration in saline aquifers.
