Public Policy

Coursework

The Master of Public Policy is offered within the Department of Government and International Relations.

The Programs in Public Policy are primarily intended for those who serve, or seek to serve, in government. They are designed to develop an understanding of the political, social, economic and organisational processes that shape, change and limit public policy programs. Major areas of interest include policy analysis, organisational behaviour, and issues management.

Research

There are currently no research degrees offered in Public Policy, but potential applicants are referred to the Government and International Relations section of the Postgraduate Handbook.

Awards and requirements

Please refer to the degree resolutions in this Handbook for information on the specific admission requirements for different coursework award courses.

Graduate Certificate in Public Policy
To be awarded the Graduate Diploma of Public Policy, students complete a total of four units of study (24 credit points), comprising:

  • one core compulsory unit (6 credit points)
  • at least one core elective unit of study (6 credit points)
  • a maximum two elective units (12 credit points) chosen from the Table of Postgraduate Coursework Units of Study

Graduate Diploma in Public Policy
To be awarded the Graduate Diploma of Public Policy, students complete a total of six units of study (36 credit points), comprising:

  • one core compulsory unit (6 credit points)
  • at least one core elective unit of study (6 credit points)
  • a maximum of four elective units (24 credit points) chosen from the Table of Postgraduate Coursework Units of Study

Master of Public Policy
To be awarded the Masters of Public Policy, students complete a total of eight units of study (48 credit points), comprising:

  • one core compulsory unit (6 credit points)
  • at least one core elective unit of study (6 credit points)
  • a maximum of six elective units (36 credit points), including a minimum of four units (24 credit points) chosen from the Table of Postgraduate Coursework Units of Study
