PERF5601 Creative Work Project 1

Credit points: 6 Teacher/Coordinator: Dr Rowena Cowley (performance & conducting) and Prof Matthew Hindson (composition) Session: Semester 1,Semester 2 Classes: 1-hour individual tuition per week and attendance and participation at Performance Seminar or equivalent. Assessment: Performance and conducting: Work-in-progress presentation of 20-30 mins duration, assessed by DMA advisors. (100%); Composition: portfolio of completed creative work(s) and/or research completed during the semester (100%). Mode of delivery: Normal (lecture/lab/tutorial) day
Students will commence preparation for the research-based projects which culminate during Semester 2. Students work with the guidance of an advisor. Requirements will vary according to the field. For further detail, see the DMA Guidelines.
PERF5602 Creative Work Project 2

Credit points: 12 Teacher/Coordinator: Dr Rowena Cowley (performance & conducting) and Prof Matthew Hindson (composition) Session: Semester 1,Semester 2 Classes: 1-hour individual tuition per week and attendance and participation at Performance Seminar or equivalent. Prerequisites: PERF5601 Assessment: Substantial recital (or equivalent) or substantial portfolio (80%) with accompanying critical notes or equivalent documentation. (20%) Mode of delivery: Normal (lecture/lab/tutorial) day
Students will develop and present a research-based project with the guidance of the advisor. Requirements will vary according to the field. Where appropriate and approved in advance, performance students may work with a staff accompanist; the staff accompanist will be available for 8 hours of rehearsal and for the recital.
