Last night Professor Geoff Meen delivered a lecture on housing affordability in Australia and the UK, in which he challenged the effectiveness of increasing housing supply on housing affordability.

About the speaker

Geoff Meen

Professor Geoff Meen

Geoff Meen is a Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Reading, specialising in housing economics.

He was a specialist advisor to the House of Lords Economic Affairs select committee in its inquiry into the Economics of UK Housing and also works closely with the English Department of Communities and Local Government. He was awarded an OBE in 2007 for his work on housing.

He has published in many leading academic journals and recently published a new book Housing Economics: A Historical Approach. He previously worked as a research fellow at Melbourne University and holds an honorary Adjunct Professorship at RMIT University.
