International House residents elected their new IHMA Committee Executive for 2020 on Monday following a debate held in the Wool Room at the weekend. The new executive will be led by incoming Chairperson Judd Zhan from New Zealand, Ricki Zhan (Treasurer) from China, and Rohit Pinto (Secretary) from Singapore.

Mr Zhan, who is studying a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine, said he was pleased with the result and thanked the International House community for their vote of confidence.

“I look forward to a busy year in 2020 working towards enacting the policies we have prepared.

I think we can bring more volunteer opportunities to residents in the house, as well as build greater connections with the wider university community and businesses in the area.

I would like to thank everyone who ran for executive positions, it’s not an easy thing to do, and it was a very competitive campaign,” said Mr Zhan.

International House Members’ Association are responsible for managing social and extracurricular events in the house including International Night, the annual ball and numerous Welcome Week workshops. The volunteer association also manages the International House shop and provides valuable feedback regarding the operation of the house as a whole.

The trio will begin their positions in January 2020 with remaining Committee positions to be decided later this year.
