2020 Virtual Prize Giving Ceremony

Recognition of high-achieving students
In one of The University of Sydney Law School’s largest annual events, more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate students were recognised for their outstanding academic achievements at the Prize Giving Ceremony on 26 August 2020.
The Dean and Head of School, Professor Simon Bronitt, gratefully acknowledged the efforts of our students and expressed the Law School's gratitude for the invaluable support of the community and the profession, and warmly thanked all prize and scholarship donors for their continuing support.
This year, the ceremony was held online for the first time. Students located around the world were able to watch the ceremony, and celebrate with family and friends.
The prestigious University Medallist for Law was awarded to two students this year, to John-Patrick Asimakis and Harrison Rogers. Harrison Rogers delivered the student address.
Amelia Burns was recognised as the top student ranked in the Juris Doctor cohort.
Students received special video addresses from Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of NSW, and The University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Dr Michael Spence AC.
Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, prize and scholarship donors and representatives, Sydney Law School staff, and members of the legal profession viewed the online ceremony, and came together to celebrate and recognise this significant occasion.
