Postgraduate

A range of flexible courses tailored to your needs

From an undergraduate Combined Law program to the postgraduate Juris Doctor and Master's degrees, our law degrees deliver depth, breadth, and a distinguished legal education from one of the world’s best law schools.

Juris Doctor (JD)

Our Juris Doctor is a graduate entry professional law degree that provides a pathway into the legal profession for graduates of other disciplines. With full time or part time study options, you'll gain the academic knowledge and skills for admission to practise law in Australia.

Master of Laws (LLM) and specialist masters

Our flagship Master of Laws provides lawyers with expert in-depth specialist legal knowledge. Specialist Masters and Graduate Diplomas offer opportunities for both lawyers and non-lawyers to gain or extend their knowledge in one of many areas of the law.

Research degrees

Our postgraduate research degrees equip you for careers in advanced research, policy development, public service, tertiary teaching or professional leadership. Work alongside some of the world’s brightest and most accomplished academics.

Individual units of study

Postgraduate students can choose to study individual units of study in specialist areas. You have the flexibility to complete these in intensive mode or throughout the semester and they can be credited towards a degree program in the future.

A detailed version of the Sydney Law School postgraduate timetable is available to download. It includes details of postgraduate unit of study unit coordinators (see Our visitors), locations, and course and unit requirements.

Unless otherwise specified, semester length unit classes are held over 13 weeks within one semester (one two-hour 6-8pm evening class per week). Intensive unit classes are in the daytime and are held over a 4-5 day period (generally between 9am and 5pm).
