Doctor of Medicine - Dubbo Stream

The University of Sydney’s postgraduate Doctor of Medicine is offered in two streams - the Metropolitan Stream based in Sydney, and the Dubbo Stream delivered at the School of Rural Health in Dubbo.

The Dubbo Stream has been developed under the Australian Government Murray-Darling Medical Schools Network (MDMSN) initiative and is one of five satellite medical programs in rural NSW and Victoria.

The School of Rural Health in Dubbo features state-of-the-art teaching facilities and comfortable and well-equipped living and study spaces. Our facilities include:

  • Purpose-built learning studios for collaborative teamwork.
  • Diverse learning spaces, encompassing tutorial rooms, clinical skills teaching areas, and a lecture theatre.
  • An anatomy teaching laboratory.
  • Recreational amenities such as an outdoor gym, pool, and tennis court.
  • Simulation training in the state-of-the-art Lonergan Foundation Simulation Suite, equipped with six rooms and the latest technology and resources.

Clinical teaching is centred at the newly redeveloped Dubbo Hospital, which has a wide range of specialist capabilities.

Every year, 24 places are offered in the Dubbo Stream to first-year students eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place. Pathways are available for Indigenous students and those with rural backgrounds.

Subsidised onsite accommodation is available for first-year students in the Dubbo Stream.

GAMSAT

The Graduate Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT) forms part of the entry requirements for studying medicine at the University of Sydney.

The School of Rural Health in Dubbo hosts the March and September GAMSAT.
