Joseph Bejjani, Bachelor of Pharmacy

Why did you choose to study Pharmacy?

I chose to study pharmacy because I thoroughly enjoy working with people to improve their health and have a positive impact on their lives. I also really like being able to apply scientific knowledge in a clinical atmosphere, so it seemed like a good fit for me.

What does a typical day at uni look like for you?

A typical day at uni involves attending workshops, dispensing laboratories and also a few lectures. I am also the incoming president of the Sydney University Pharmacy Association, so I send time in the office as well.

What has surprised you most about your degree?

For me, I have been surprised by the different pathways that you can enter in the profession. The opportunities are endless and really are what you make of them.

What do you like most about studying at USYD?

I really enjoy the way that our degree is at the forefront of education of pharmacists. All of our academics are at the top of their respective fields, each working to fine tune our skills to equip us in the best way possible for the future.

What advice would you give other students just starting out?

I would tell them to make sure they don't forget the reason why they chose this degree, to make sure that they take every opportunity that they can. Also, I would remind them to never give up or underestimate their potential. Where there is a thirst for knowledge, satisfy it.
