Kaleidoscope: Perception and Pattern

2024 Winter School Holiday Program
10-19 July: Explore Consuelo Cavaniglia’s exhibition ‘seeing through you’ with a range of activities inspired by the artworks.

Join us at the Chau Chak Wing Museum for a series of winter school holiday workshops which explore our new exhibition; Consuelo Cavaniglia’s seeing through you.

Make your own kaleidoscope using mirrored surfaces, cardboard, and brightly coloured objects inspired by the optical instruments and colourful arrays in the exhibition.

Then explore the museum collection for patterns and designs from across the globe and across time. What do the patterns mean? How can we change the way we see ourselves? Why might an artist be interested in the way we see things?

This interactive program asks participants to create their own drawings and art that enable them to perceive the world in different ways. Like a kaleidoscope we will be immersed in abstraction, colour, and light.

This workshop is designed for children aged 6-12. Parents and carers are required to attend with their children.
