With curators Shuxia Chen and Katrina Liberiou
Join us at the Museum for a special event in the final week of Sarah Goffman's exhibition, Applied Arts.
Join Museum curators Shuxia Chen and Katrina Liberiou in conversation with artist Sarah Goffman. Goffman will discuss the Silk Road and its legacy of European and Asian cultural interchange, and the enduring influences including chinoiserie and the 'Willow pattern' on her art practice.
Taking the famous ceramics province of Jingdezhen as a reference point, the panel will discuss ideas around production, copying and the slippages that were introduced.
Dr Sarah Goffman has been exhibiting mixed media installations since 1994. Goffman completed a Diploma of Arts in Photography (1994) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (2000) at the National Art School. In 2018, she was awarded a Doctor of Creative Arts from the University of Wollongong.
