Transforming Lives: Cultural Competence at the Interface

Showcasing cultural competence innovations at the University
Join us on Monday 4 November 2019

On Monday 4 November, the National Centre for Cultural Competence (NCCC) will host the Transforming Lives: Cultural Competence at the Interface symposium, a forum showcasing the many and varied cultural competence innovations that have been implemented across the University.

The Centre invited University of Sydney academic and professional staff to submit presentations and papers for the symposium, which closed on Monday 9 September 2019.

Leading in cultural competence

The University of Sydney prioritises cultural competence through its strategic plan, University of Sydney Strategic Plan 2016-2020, and as a graduate quality. The NCCC supports the University’s strategic goals as well as the objectives of Wingara Mura-Bunga Barrabugu, the University-wide strategy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education, research, participation and engagement. The NCCC works with colleagues from across the University to develop innovative learning, teaching, research and engagement programs which places the University of Sydney at the forefront of addressing cultural competence at a whole-of-university level.

The symposium will be opened by Vice Chancellor Dr Michael Spence AO and will provide a significant opportunity to share with the University community, and other interested people, the work and insights that have been gained from implementing a range of cultural competence initiatives in a variety of different contexts within the University.
