Centre membership

Become a member of the China Studies Centre

As a member, you’ll be first to know about our events and the latest news on cutting-edge research about China.

The China Studies Centre has three types of membership:

  • academic
  • associate
  • student.

Membership applications are reviewed by the centre’s Executive Committee.

Benefits

As a member, you will receive our monthly newsletter and other relevant communications during the year.

You will also be invited to regular events including talks, symposiums, our monthly seminars and the Sydney Asian Art Series.

Our academic and student research members will also be the first to know when research grants open and can apply for grants, subject to the requirements.

 

Requirements to become a member

To qualify for academic membership you must:

  • Hold a conferred academic title and be employed of full-time, part-time or casual basis, or hold an honorary title at the University of Sydney; and
  • Have an academic interest in China and/or pursue academic collaborations with China and/or greater China; and
  • Also identify at least one of the following academic clusters where they locate their research and/or teaching:
    • Business and Economics
    • Environment
    • History
    • Language, Literature, Culture and Education
    • Law and Politics
    • Science and Technology
    • Wellbeing

Associate membership is open to:

  • Professional staff at the University of Sydney.
  • Academic, honorary staff member or students from institutions other than the University of Sydney.
  • Independent researchers.
  • Individuals who have engaged with China in the fields of business, politics, culture, or other relevant non-academic areas.

To qualify for student membership you must be enrolled in an undergraduate, honours, postgraduate coursework, research masters, or PhD program relating to China or Greater China.
