This project focuses on investigating the adaptive and immune systems of Arabian oryx from a reintroduction program in Oman.

Masters/PHD
This project investigates the genetic diversity of the adaptive and innate immune systems, including the major histocompatibility complex and complement system, in Arabian oryx breeding populations to better inform a reintroduction program for this species in Oman. There is also scope for investigating health parameters in these populations. This project will involve use of molecular genetic approaches and phylogenetic and population genetic analyses of DNA data.

- Ability to perform independently and/or with minimal supervision;
- Ability to undertake certain physical tasks (e.g. heavy lifting);
- Ability to undertake observatory, sensory and communication tasks;
- Ability to spend time at remote sites (e.g. One Tree Island, Narrabri and Camden);
- Ability to work in confined spaces or at heights;
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (e.g. farming equipment);
- Hold or acquire an Australian driver’s licence;
- Hold a current scuba diving license;
