This project aims to investigate the effects of comorbid epilepsy on children with cerebral palsy. The project will investigate the characteristics, clinical and imaging risk factors, quality of life, genetic causes, and surgical management options of epilepsy in children with CP. This project has a translational aspect and would be used to develop a clinical programme for children with CP and epilepsy to improve health care delivery and outcome. This project would be supervised by Prof Russell Dale (Professor of Paediatric Neurology) and Dr Kavitha Kothur (epilepsy expert and neurologist) in conjunction with Dr Sarah McIntyre (Cerebral Palsy Alliance researcher). This project would be suitable for an enthusiastic Medical/Medical science student who wants to do higher degree research (Masters or PhD) and develop an interest or pursue a career in neurology, neurodisability or neuroscience. This research programme will provide opportunities to improve network and advance a career and train in research methodology. It is expected the candidate will be competitive for a scholarship during the higher degree research period.
