This project involves studying the characteristics of oxygen-enriched combustion
Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering
Masters/PHD
There is strong interest in this mode of combustion where the fuel is enriched with oxygen rather than air. The higher temperatures will have many implications that need to be overcome. The piloted burner with methane-oxygen fuel mixture issuing from the central jet will be studied. Higher concentrations of intermediates such as CO and broader, non-flamelet reaction zones can be expected. Collaboration with Barlow at Sandia on detailed species measurements is anticipated.
