Research Supervisor Connect

French, Francophone and world cinema

Summary

I have been working at the University of Sydney for two decades and I have been the Chair of Discipline for six years. As a film specialist I have designed the film trend of the Discipline of French and Francophone Studies, developed a new course on Stars in Word cinema in the international and Comparative Literary Studies program in SLC and I contribute to the European Studies Program.

My research has focused on the work of 20th century writer and filmmaker Marguerite Duras and on French and World Cinema. I have published extensively in French and English on Marguerite Duras’ cinema, using postcolonial and gender theories, on socio-political cinema and on stars studies. I have just completed a research project: on tactility and sensoriality in the films of Marguerite Duras and and I am currently working a new project on Francophone Oceanian art, literature and cinema.
