The MD program contains a mandatory research project. These projects are bona fide research projects, which abide by the usual rules of research ethics and governance. With a large cohort of faculty supervisors, there is a range of research experience and research supervision experience amongst the necessary supervisor pool. This project investigates the understanding of our supervisors on research ethics required for the projects they propose.
This project will involve quantitative analysis of faculty survey data and project documents. The goal is to establish the level of understanding of faculty regarding research ethics. The outcomes will likely inform a training guideline or strategy/program for faculty.
Dr Joanne Hart is the Academic Lead, MD Research and responsible for research education for the Post-Graduate Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program at the University of Sydney. She has extensive experience in tertiary teaching and biomedical research, research education and curriculum delivery and development. She is passionate about promoting best practice in research education and is the co-lead of the international Research Educators Network for research educators in medical programs from Australia and New Zealand. She has an excellent research publication track record in tertiary education and project-based learning.
