Synopsis

The Jazz Unit offers research opportunities in contemporary performance, performance practice, composition, historically based performance, and other areas of jazz musicology.  The importance of specific research and its link to performance practice and the subsequent enhancement of candidates’ musical endeavours cannot be overstated. The jazz unit offers best practice supervision and opportunities for study. The staff are at the vanguard of both performance and musical research domestically and internationally.
