About Dr Wojciech Chrzanowski

My research focuses on biointerfaces – the modulation of cells responses using chemical, biological and topographical cues incorporated in materials (including drug carries) to control materials behaviour in bodily environment.

I am recognised expert in nano and molecular characterisation of the cell/bacteria- material- interactions. I have an expertise in surface modifications, synthesis of new materials for biomedical applications.

My work focuses on the exploration of interactions at tissue–material interface, modifications and development of new materials to control cell response. My work has made a significant contribution to the understanding of the cell responses on shape memory material with modified chemistry, topography and surface energy. More recent work has developed composite material with improved cell response through closely controlled material chemistry and degradation. This work combines the strengths of bioactive glasses and degradable polymers. With my expertise in surface engineering and examinations I had a great input into the development of novel antimicrobial, and self-cleaning materials, bioactive degradable glasses and composites, and surfaces that guide DNA binding.
