The performance of apologies by learners of Italian

The study investigates email communication in the Australian university setting, and is within the field of pragmatics, an area of sociolinguistics which explores with how people perform actions through language.

In this study, you will be asked to write six short emails in English in response to a series of scenarios. This study is conducted in person, on campus, at a time which suits you.

Eligibility

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • are currently enrolled at the University of Sydney 
  • are a native speaker of Australian English

You DO NOT need to be a student of Italian, or to have any knowledge of the Italian language.
