Do you experience voice problems due to muscle tension?

We want to explore what speech pathologists do during therapy when working with people who have muscle tension voice disorders.

Voice therapy is the treatment of choice for voice disorders caused by muscle tension. However, little is known about what actually occurs during therapy and what ‘parts’ of the therapeutic process are responsible for positive treatment results.

If you are thinking about or currently seeing a speech pathologist for voice- related concerns, you may be eligible to participate in this study.

What's involved?

What will it involve?

● Your voice therapy session(s) will be video recorded.

● One of the researchers will conduct interview(s) about your video recorded therapy. This interview will be between the researcher and your speech pathologist. You will not be present during the interview.

Eligibility

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • 18 years and older
  • fluent in English
  • diagnosed with a voice disorder due to muscle tension
  • seeing a speech pathologist for treatment.
