Decision making and problem solving in teams

You are invited to participate in a study being conducted by The University of Sydney Business School and the School of Psychology about how groups make decisions and solve problems in a competitive environment.

The purpose of the study is to gain a better understanding of how teams process the constant flow of information at work, and make decisions in the context of competition.

In this study you will participate in a group decision-making task with other research participants. In preparation for this group task, you will first be asked to complete a series of computer tasks that test your individual abilities. After completing each task, you will complete a short online survey containing questions related to the task you have completed as well as questions about yourself more generally. The purpose of the surveys is to understand your natural disposition toward making decisions.

You will be reimbursed with a $20 gift voucher for costs associated with your participation in this study. In addition, participating may provide you with some insight into how research is conducted in the organisational sciences. The study will take no more than 60 minutes to complete and will take place in a computer lab at The University of Sydney.

Please contact Tia Jackson-Murphy (Honours Student, School of Psychology) via email on tjac3389@uni.sydney.edu.au if you have any questions about this study.

This study has been approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) of The University of Sydney [HREC Approval No.: 2020/HE000050].
