IMPRINT study: The impact of psychological distress on recovery from injuries sustained in a traffic crash

We are looking for healthy volunteers to take part in our research study that aims to help improve health and quality of life of people who are injured in a motor vehicle crash.
This study is designed to investigate how such an accident impacts people’s health by using a measure of heart function, called Heart Rate Variability (HRV), which is a sensitive, noninvasive way to assess the individual capacity to cope through a stressful event.

What is involved?

Your participation would involve undertaking a 20-minute electrocardiogram (ECG) recording, to gather data about your heart, and completing a survey about your health 4 times, at 0-3-6-12 months, after your enrolment. You will be reimbursed $50 for your participation (gift vouchers).

Ethics committee approval number: HREC/15/RPAH/423

To be eligible:

• You should be aged 18 years or over

• Have not experienced a motor vehicle crash or serious injury within the last 5 years.
