Improving calcium intake in young adults: a six-week randomised controlled trial

Assisting young adults to improve their calcium intake.
We are looking for young adults to take part in a six-week program designed to help you eat more calcium-rich foods.

Our previous research indicates most people fail to meet the recommended dietary intake. The CAN DO (CAlcium Nutrition- Dietary Opportunities) study will assist young adults to improve their calcium intake.

Eligible participants will be asked to complete two surveys (one baseline survey before joining the program and a second after six weeks). Some participants may be invited to receive social media posts or text messages.

Ethics approval number: 2018/597

To be eligible for the CAN-DO study you have to be between 18 to 25 years old; not completing or completed a degree related to nutrition; owning a smartphone with a Facebook account; not taking calcium supplements (multivitamins are okay).

In addition, you must not have a history of eating disorders, food allergy or be lactose intolerance.
