Nutrition and Cardiometabolic Disease: an acute feeding study

Nutrition and weight loss
Assessing nutritional biomarkers and cardiovascular risk in the acute post-meal phase.

Participate in this study and ENJOY two meals (smashed avo and a burger) on us!

This pilot study is designed to test the hypothesis that specific foods will influence a variety of measurable cardiometabolic health markers in the immediate post-meal phase.

We will also use this opportunity to study the acute nutritional biomarker response to a meal.

Participation involves:

  • 2 x 6.5-hour study visits scheduled at your convenience. You’ll be required to stay within the RPA Clinic at Charles Perkins Centre during each visit, but you’ll be able to work, study or watch movies at the same time.
  • Multiple blood sampling with a small venous cannula inserted into your arm.
  • Multiple blood pressure measurements and ultrasounds of your arm.
  • Medical and general health questionnaires.
  • 3-day food diary.

Ethics approval number: X18-0315
