Who's eligible

You must:

  • have an ATAR of 99.90 or above, or equivalent
  • have applied through UAC for admission and for a Faculty of Engineering commencing scholarship in your final year of high school, or equivalent
  • enrol into an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Engineering, combined degrees are also eligible
  • not hold a Faculty of Engineering leadership scholarship.
1. Background

a. This Scholarship was established to encourage and assist academically high achieving recent school leavers with studies within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney.

2. Eligibility

a. The Scholarship is open to those who obtained an ATAR (or equivalent) of 99.90 or above. Applicants must also have applied through UAC for admission and for a Faculty of Engineering undergraduate commencing scholarship in the year they completed their final year of high school, or equivalent.

b. Recipients must subsequently enrol in an undergraduate program administered by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies. Combined degree programs are also eligible.

c. Applicants cannot hold a Faculty of Engineering Leadership Scholarship.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit as indicated by the applicant’s ATAR.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded on the nomination of a selection committee consisting of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, or their nominee.

4. Value

a. The Scholarship is valued at $5,995 and is tenable for the full-time duration of the degree.

b. The Scholarship value will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted without the prior permission of the Associate Dean (Education) and it is not transferable to another faculty or university.

d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

e. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing eligibility

a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester.

b. Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

6. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

II. commences part-time study without prior approval,

III. receives and accepts a Faculty of Engineering Leadership Scholarship, or another Faculty or University scholarship with a value of $5,995 or more.

IV. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,

V. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,

VI. commences part-time study without the prior approval of the Faculty Associate Dean (Education),

VII. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or

VIII. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Once a Scholarship has been terminated, it cannot be reinstated.

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
