  • qualify for, and subsequently enrol, in a single or combined undergraduate degree in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering at the University of Sydney
  • secure an ATAR of 93 or more to qualify.

Background

This scholarship was established for the encouragement of higher education in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering at the University of Sydney.

1. Background

a) The Electrical and Information Engineering Undergraduate Entry Scholarship was established for the encouragement of higher education in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering.

2. Eligibility

a) The scholarship shall be open to all Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents who are in their final year of schooling and qualify and subsequently enrol into a full-time bachelor degree program including combined degrees in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney.

b) Program is defined as a course/degree, associated major and or stream.

c) Applicants must provide by the scholarship application deadline a personal statement that demonstrates leadership qualities, innovation and self-motivation, communication skills and achievements in non-academic pursuits and involvement in school and community ventures.

d) Applicants will need to secure an ATAR of 93 or more to qualify as recipient of this scholarship.

3. Awarding of the scholarship

a) The scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit as indicated by the applicant's performance at the N.S.W HSC examination or equivalent and their personal statement as outlined in Term 2.c plus Term 2.d.

b) The scholarship shall be awarded by the Faculty Associate Dean (Education), or their nominee and the Head of School of Electrical and Information Engineering or their nominee. The Associate Dean (Education) shall be the Committee Chair.

4. Tenure

a) The scholarship shall be tenable for one year only and subject to satisfactory academic progress deemed to be a credit average (65%) or above each semester.

b) Deferment of the scholarship is not permitted.

c) The scholarship shall be tenable in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney and shall not be transferable to another school, faculty or university.

5. Value and payment

a) The total value of the Scholarship is $6,000 per annum.

b) Payments shall be made in equal instalments after the Census date of each semester.

c) The scholarship shall be awarded subject to the availability of funds.

6. Termination of scholarship and other conditions

The scholarship will be terminated on the following grounds:

a) the recipient withdraws from their degree program, 

b) if the recipient changes their program (i.e. course, major or stream) in their first year of study without the prior approval of the Associate Dean (Education), 

c) the recipient commences part-time study without the prior consent of the Associate Dean (Education), 

d) the recipient does not maintain satisfactory academic performance as defined in Term 4.a, and 

e) the recipient receives and accepts another primary University of Sydney Scholarship or Faculty scholarship during the duration of this scholarship. 

f) In the event that the recipient discontinues their course any money paid to the student during that academic year may be requested to be repaid to the Faculty of Engineering. This is subject to the Associate Dean (Education)'s discretion. 

g) The recipient will not pursue a course of studies at any institution other than the University of Sydney during the course of the scholarship. 

h) The recipient may be entitled to a 'suspension' during the scholarship program in the event of extenuating circumstances subject to the discretion of the Associate Dean (Education).
