Biographical details

Abdus Sadeque received BSc Agriculture (Hons) degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University and started his career as an agronomist with Farming Systems Research at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute. He moved to Australia in 1997 as a skill migrant and obtained his Masters in crop science and PhD in plant breeding from the University of Sydney. The main objective of his PhD dissertation was to investigate the genetics of polyphenol oxidase activity in wheat and evaluation of the efficiency of introgression of null polyphenol oxidase and disease resistance into hexaploid wheats. After obtaining PhD in 2008, Dr Sadeque joined NSW Department of Primary Industries in pulse improvement programme at Australian Cotton Research Institute. He has been working in agronomy and breeding of faba bean for the cropping systems of Northern New South Wales and southern Queensland. In July 2011, Fababean Breeding Programme has moved at the University of Sydney Plant Breeding Institute, Narrabri NSW. Since then, he has been working with University of Sydney.
