Biographical details

I completed my PhD at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Veterinary Science, followed by postdoctoral positions at the University of Zurich and the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney. I also spent time as a Fulbright Fellow at Washington University School of Medicine. I was awarded a University of Sydney Research Fellowship from the Sydney School of Veterinary Science in 2016, followed by a L’Oreal-UNESCO for Women in Science Fellowship. I am currently a senior lecturer in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences. My group’s research focuses on the evolution of pregnancy, funded by the Australian Research Council.

Research interests

My team's research aims to understand the genetic basis of complex evolutionary innovations. We're especially interested in understanding the evolution of pregnancy and the placenta. We use comparative genomics, physiology, and morphological techniques in our research with a range of non-traditional model species, including reptiles, sharks, bony fish and marsupials.
