Biographical details

Fernando graduated from the University of Madrid. After a period in practice both in Spain and the UK he completed an internship and then residency in anaesthesia at the University of Bristol. Following this he was clinical anaesthetist at the University of Cambridge and locum anaesthetist at various referral hospitals in the UK. In 2011, he set and lead the anaesthesia and analgesia services at North Downs Specialist Referrals and he did it again in 2016 at Wear Referrals. Between 2015 and 2016, he was clinical specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia at the University of Sydney. Since late 2017, he is Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia.

Fernando gained his RCVS certificate in anaesthesia in 2007, European specialisation in 2011 and he is a recognaised specialist in Australia since 2018. At the moment, he is working toward his PhD in local anaesthesia.

Fernando is an active member of our teaching community, he lectures in several units of study of the DVM program.

Fernando is the coordinator of the posgraduate teaching program in Veterinary Anaesthesia (authorised by the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia).

Fernando has also supervised several marster's students and several honours project that ended up in scientific publications
