Biographical details

Francine Perrine-Walker graduated with a BSc (Hons in Microbiology) from the University of Sydney and a PhD (Plant Sciences) from the Australian National University in 2003. For her first postdoctoral position, she worked briefly at the Seoul National University (South Korea) in 2004. With a strong interest in Plant Cell Biology and plant-microbe interactions, she worked as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow at the International Christian University (Japan) in 2005-2007. Then she spent 2 years in Montpellier (France) as an Agropolis Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow investigating nitrate sensing in Arabidopsis roots at INRA/Montpellier SupAgro and the role of auxin in Frankia-Casuarina glauca interaction at IRD/CIRAD. In 2012--2014, she worked on fungal pathogens interacting with maize at Hexima Ltd/La Trobe University. With an interest in teaching, she taught Diploma students at Swinburne University and Masters students at the University of Melbourne and completed a Graduate Certificate in University Teaching (Melb) in 2016. Her current research is investigating how microbes interact with crop plants such as cocoa and coffee.
