Business study tours and immersion programs

If you're studying in the Business School, you have the opportunity to further develop your skills working on real projects through our various study tours and immersion programs.

US Future of Business Study Tour

The US Future Business Study Tour includes a short study program at New York's NYU Stern School of Business.

You will work on real world projects in conjunction with the Boston Consulting Group, being exposed to design thinking theories and processes which are used by organisations around the world.

The program will focus on design thinking methodology, helping you to develop your academic, social, cultural and professional skills. You will apply cross-cultural, research, critical thinking and collaboration skills when working on strategic projects.

Your study tour will be fully supported for the duration of the program by an academic from the Business School and a business consultant with international expertise.

There will be partial Business School scholarships awarded under two categories, for example, Merit and Leadership and Equity and Merit.

Undergraduate students enrolled in a Business School degree (or combined Business School degree) may apply. You will need a minimum WAM of 50 and to have completed 48 credit points or two semesters of business units before you commence the program.

China Future of Business Study Tour

Undergraduate students

The undergraduate study tour will allow you to explore Suzhou, Shanghai and Nanjing, experience daily language and Chinese culture classes, and have networking and mentoring opportunities with local business executives.

The program has been designed to introduce you to the future of business in China and is a pathway towards more complex work-integrated learning programs.

You will be fully supported for the duration of the program by an academic from the Business School.

Partial Business School scholarships are also available and awarded under two categories for example, Merit and Leadership and Equity and Merit.

Undergraduate students enrolled in a Business School degree (or combined Business School degree) may apply. You will need a minimum WAM of 50 and to have completed 24 credit points of business units before you commence the program. If you commenced your degree in Semester 1 2019, you are eligible to apply.

Postgraduate students

The Business School is offering a short-term study tour program in China over the summer break for postgraduate students enrolled in a Master of Commerce degree. The tour is delivered in partnership with award-winning China innovation platform the China Australia Millennial Project (CAMP).

The program incorporates a pre-departure workshop in Sydney,  weeks in Shanghai from 2 to 14 December 2019 and a debrief workshop on return to Sydney.

You will develop a start-up idea and increase your understanding of starting a global business with an in-country experience in China. The program gives you the chance work on real-world problems facing organisations, governments and markets in China and businesses engaging with China.

Postgraduate students enrolled in a Master of Commerce are eligible to apply. You will need a minimum WAM of 50 and to have completed 24 credit points of business units before you commence the program. If you commenced your degree in Semester 1 2019, you are eligible to apply.

Shanghai Business Immersion Program

Spend six weeks working with one of our industry partners in one of the world's most important centres for business and trade. 

The University of Sydney Business School’s six-week Shanghai Business Immersion Program will allow you to develop your academic, social, cultural, and professional skills to position you for a global career. The program is designed to give you a comprehensive experience that goes well beyond the internship itself.

Undergraduate students enrolled in a Business School degree (or combined Business School degree) may apply. You will need a credit average and 48 credit points or two completed semesters of Business units before going on placement.

International Immersion in Singapore

In this short-term research program you will spend two weeks in Singapore working in teams to understand and analyse an important demographic trend that impacts businesses, societies and markets. 

This program in Singapore is highly experiential and thematic and aims to develop your cultural understanding of a context for research purposes. Immersing yourself in a cultural context develops your cultural competence and resilience in dealing with a new environment.
