First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Depending on your course, you may need to provide a current first aid certificate or a current Australian CPR certificate. Your faculty or school will contact you about these requirements.

First aid

Your faculty or school will let you know if you need to provide a current first aid certificate.

If you are completing a degree in the Sydney Dental School, you need to maintain a current first aid certificate equivalent to the Red Cross First Aid Training Course for the duration of your studies.

Recommended first aid providers include:

  • Australian Red Cross Society
  • Medilife
  • New South Wales State Emergency Service
  • Royal Life Saving Society Australia
  • Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
  • St John Ambulance Australia
  • Canadian Red Cross (Canada)
  • St John's Ambulance (Canada & USA)
  • American Heart Association (USA)

CPR

Your faculty or school will let you know if you need to provide a current Australian CPR certificate.

If you are completing a degree in the Sydney School of Health Sciences, you need to have a current Australian CPR certificate valid for the duration of your placement.

If you are completing a degree in the Sydney Dental School, you need to maintain a current CPR certificate for the duration of your studies.

Your CPR certificate needs to be a Nationally Recognised VET Qualification or Statement of Attainment from a recognised Australian training organisation. The Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness provides accredited courses.
