The Learning Hub runs individual workshops and ongoing Supplementary Learning Tutorials throughout the year to help you revise or consolidate your understanding in various topics such as algebra and calculus.
Our Supplementary Learning Tutorials follow the content taught in some of the core 1000 or 2000-level units. These can help you consolidate your knowledge as semester progresses. You'll have an opportunityto ask questions, discuss, and get additional help with content for your units of study at a pace tailored to your needs.

PASS is a peer-facilitated program run by the Learning Hub and is available to students enrolled in certain units of study. Our facilitators are students who have successfully completed the unit of study and understand what is involved in completing the subject from a student’s perspective.
In a PASS session, you will review important and challenging content and gain discipline-specific skills through collaborative and interactive activities. This could include:
PASS sessions begin in Week 2 of each semester and run until the end of STUVAC. To make the most of the program, we recommend you attend from the first session; however, you are welcome to join at any point during semester.
To be eligible to attend the PASS session you just need to be enrolled in the unit of study.
The MAP is a diagnostic tool designed to assist you in finding appropriate support based on your mathematics knowledge before undertaking studies in STEM fields. The MAP provides personalized feedback that can assist in subject selection and degree planning. You may also find the MAP helpful in assessing which areas of mathematics you require support and consolidation in during your studies.
Our short intensives introduce you to, or help you revise, the mathematical assumed knowledge for your courses.
We also suggest visiting the University's Maths learning support page where you can chat to our maths bot to determine which units to enrol in and receive personalised advice for learning support.
The Introduction to Calculus MOOC provides an introduction to the key concepts and techniques of calculus, and will give you a foundation to succeed in many courses at the University that have an assumed knowledge of calculus (equivalent to HSC Mathematics Advanced). The MOOC is a series of online modules you can complete at your own pace and is open to anyone.
View the Introduction to Calculus page and register online.
In addition, the Learning Hub (Mathematics) runs dedicated support for students at the University of Sydney who are undertaking the MOOC. Once registered, you'll be able to access this support by logging in to our Mathematics Readiness Bootcamp Canvas site.
Our Mathematics Extension 1 Bridging Course covers selected topics that will be of benefit to courses that have an assumed knowledge of HSC Mathematics Extension 1.
View the Mathematics Extension 1 Bridging Course page and register online.
Our Statistics Bridging Course aims to review the basic mathematical skills and ideas needed for an introductory statistics course. It is useful for students who have not studied HSC Mathematics Advanced at school. To find out the next available offering, email us at learninghub.mathematics@sydney.edu.au.
If you have other specific individual needs or enquiries outside of the above, email us at learninghub.mathematics@sydney.edu.au to see how we can help.
Some faculties and schools also run discipline-specific support for their students. These include:
Staff members looking to refer a student needing academic learning support can complete the referral form and Learning Hub will reach out directly to the student.
