How to apply and deadlines

You can apply for special consideration using our online application.

Submit your application within three working days of the assessment.

If a disability or your reason for making an application prevents you from applying online, please contact us for help.

There are serious penalties for providing false information, including exclusion from the University. Only submit information that is true, accurate and complete; and provided without the intent to mislead or gain advantage.

What you need to apply

Once you’ve started an application, you won’t be able to save it to complete at a later time, so make sure you have the following information ready before you begin.

  • Supporting documents – these will need to be uploaded as part of your application. If all the necessary supporting documents are not provided, your application cannot be approved. You can use one of the libraries or study spaces on campus to scan and upload documents.
  • Your documents need to be in English. To translate non-English language documents you will need to contact an accredited translation agency, such as NAATI.
  • The acceptable formats for your documents are pdf, tif, tiff, gif or png. Word file formats (doc and docx) are not accepted.
  • A short statement giving specific dates and describing the impact of the illness, injury, misadventure or special commitment on your ability to complete your studies.
  • Details of the assessment item(s) that you want to include in your application. You can find the details in your unit of study outline.

You can include more than one units of study/assessments for consideration on your application as long as they were affected by the same illness, injury or misadventure. The Special Conisderation quick reference guide provides a step-by-step guide on how to apply.

Deadline to submit an application

Applications need to be submitted as soon as possible and no later than the deadlines listed below.

Special arrangement for an assessment or examination held during semester At the date of commencement of semester in the case of religious commitments that might have an impact on assessments or examinations. For other unavoidable commitments you must apply as soon as you become aware of the clash.

Special arrangement for an assessment or examination held in the formal University examination periods

14 days after publication of the examination timetable.

Note: if the commitment is not known at this time, by the third working day (11.59pm AEST) after the special commitment date is known.

Submitting a late application

Late applications will be considered only if a reasonable explanation for the delay is provided. You may be asked to provide evidence to support your lateness.
